BOARD-CERTIFIED FAMILY LAW SPECIALISTS HOSTED BY HORACK TALLEY
"It's Raining Motions" was the title of the 2007 annual meeting and seminar for the North Carolina Bar Association Board Certified Family Law Specialists. North Carolina Family Law specialists gathered for their annual convention at the Uptown Charlotte Westin Hotel this weekend.
In order to qualify as a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, attorneys must have practiced primarily in the field of family law for the preceding five years, met certain requirements for continuing education in family law for the preceding five years, passed a written specialist examination, and received endorsements from a number of other family law attorneys
With more than 90% of the total number of board-certified NC attorneys in attendance, the conference this year was the largest to date. The specialists heard from 10 different speakers from across the state on how to use motions practice to more effectively represent their clients in cases involving custody, child support, alimony, and equitable distribution claims.
Jonathan McGirt of Raleigh and Kary Watson of Charlotte closed the seminar with a presentation and discussion of new developments and trends in the way the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court are handling appellate cases.
