Profile
David Powell's practice includes commercial real estate, commercial real estate finance, and residential development. He represents commercial developers, residential developers, condominium developers, and homebuilders.
David has handled a variety of complex real estate matters in Charlotte and the surrounding region for nearly 25 years. He has broad expertise in planned unit developments and the creation of condominiums. He is also a LEED-Accredited Professional, and maintains a Green practice that includes helping developers navigate the LEED-certification process for their projects.
David's clients include Pulte Home Corporation, David Weekley Homes, the City of Charlotte, The Pursuit Group, Beazer Homes, Johnson Homes, Easlan Capital, Allegiance Realty Corporation, Castle and Cooke, Steelfab, Inc., Kingwood Commercial, Inc., and Cielo Apartments, LLC, among others.
David was selected by Law & Politics magazine as a North Carolina “Super Lawyer” for real estate law in 2006. In 2008, he was honored by Business North Carolina as one of North Carolina’s “Legal Elite” and in 2010 & 2011 he was included in The Best Lawyers in America list in the specialty of Real Estate Law. He also recently received a Pro Bono Award from Charlotte Business Leader Magazine.
David is a member of the Mecklenburg County Real Property Council. He is currently the president of the Charlotte Basketball Committee and is the past-president of the Charlotte Sportman's Club. He also recently served on the Board of Directors of Myers Park Country Club.
