Profile
As a senior shareholder at Horack Talley, Jim Talley’s practice concentrates on commercial real estate development, business formation and operation, and financing for real estate and business ventures.
Mr. Talley’s work with commercial real estate includes involvement with hotel, office, and multi-family development, historic rehabilitation, and management groups connected with the foregoing commercial and multi-family operations. His work includes equity financing, syndicated ventures and a variety of forms of pooling arrangements, as well as land use planning and documentation to effect successful development and operational projects.
Mr. Talley was selected by Law & Politics Magazine as a North Carolina “Super Lawyer” for Real Estate Law in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He is a Sustaining Life Member of The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, an honorary organization of attorneys, judges and law professors whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.
Mr. Talley’s professional and community activities include serving as President of the North Carolina Bar Association, President and Chairman of several Legal Services organizations, and as a board member of the UNC Law Alumni Association, St. Peter’s Homes, USS Charlotte Foundation, Myers Park United Methodist Church and Trustees, North Carolina State Bar Plan for Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts. Mr. Talley currently serves on the Board of Directors for Legal Aid of North Carolina, the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation 4ALL Task Force, the North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission, and the UNC Law Alumni Innovation Advancement Committee.
